In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Wilson, NC was one of the hottest small towns for Jim Crockett Promotions. During much of this time, Wilson was seeing two cards a month, and many of them loaded with top talent.

It is a testament to how well Wilson was drawing that they were chosen for the alternate location for the big Thanksgiving night opposite the Greensboro Coliseum.
