The event poster for the annual
Thanksgiving Night show at the Greensboro Coliseum.
For the 2nd Thanksgiving show in a row,
Jack Brisco defended the NWA World title against Wahoo McDaniel. The
two met in a classic bout in 1974. This would be the next-to-last
title defense Jack would make in the Mid-Atlantic area. The
following night in Charleston he defended against Rufus R. Jones. A
few weeks later, Brisco dropped the title to Terry Funk in Miami
Beach, Florida.
The match that drew the house, however,
was the United States heavyweight title re-match following the US
tournament three weeks earlier. (Paul Jones still gets hot when he looks
at this poster. Read Paul's comments in
Reflections by Paul Jones.)
The grudge match between Blackjack
Mulligan and Tim Woods was set up by Woods' interference in
Mulligan's tournament match three weeks earlier, causing Blackjack
to lose to Dusty Rhodes.
