ABC6 TOURNAMENT TRIVIA

Family Affair: ABC6 featured the greatest Anderson family connection yet: Andersons winning the tournament! Brad Anderson and Carter "Little Gene" Anderson are the son and grandson respectively of the late Gene Anderson, one half of the original Minnesota Wrecking Crew, for whom this tournament honors.

Fathers and Sons: Brad and Carter are the 4th father/son team to compete in the ABC, the others being George South Sr. & Jr. (ABC2 and ABC3), Bobby and Dillon Eaton (ABC3), and Bob and Brad Armstrong (ABC1).   They are the second father/son combination to win the tournament, the other being George South and George South, Jr. (ABC3).

Souths and Andersons: George South is the only competitor to compete at every ABC event. Brad Anderson has appeared at four of them, but only competing at two (ABC1 and ABC6.) He was a special referee at ABC3 and was part of the pre-event festivities honoring his father and uncle at ABC4.

Previous Champs: Only two ABC6 participants were former ABC champions: George South and Brad Anderson. Brad and George won the inaugural tournament together as partners, and South won ABC3 with his son George Jr.

Tribute: Brad paid tribute to his father and uncle using the move they made famous in the 1970s, the hammerlock slam, known as the "Anderson Slam." He also, with a tip of the hat to to cousin Arn Anderson, set up Jason King using Arn's signature "gourd buster" move, thus leading to Carter's flying body press finisher for the win.

George South paid tribute to many of the legends of the game during his match in ABC6, including Wahoo McDaniel (war dance), Manny Fernandez (flying burrito), Johnny Weaver (sleeper), and the Rock and Roll Express (holding partner up to kick opponent.)

Perfect 10: The one and only Baby Doll made her first ABC appearance, managing the team of the Dawson Brothers against South and Dreamer.

Most Significant Moment of the Night: Carter Anderson wore his grandfather's boots in competition. The boots featured the trademark maroon and gold stripes that the Anderson Brothers were known for wearing throughout their careers, a tradition that began with Gene and Lars Anderson in the 1960s.

Most Unintentionally Funny Moment of the Night: Ring announcer and event host Tim Blaze inadvertently introduced Brad and Carter as the son and grandson of Ole and Gene Anderson!
